Episode 27 — Amy Braunschweiger

Amy Braunschweiger on Hey Brooklyn
Amy Braunschweiger is a freelance writer who is the author of the recently published Taxi Confidential: Life, Death and 3 a.m. Revelations in New York City Cabs. For those of us who love stories, this collection of anecdotes from the brief and temporary relationships New York City cab drivers have with their passengers is deeply satisfying. Talking to Amy taught me how the industry has changed since the 1970’s (these stories span for years!) and I got the fascinating story on how she collected all of these wonderful tales. Also, the question that every Brooklyite wonders is answered in this interview: I found out why cabs never want to go to Brooklyn. The answer is more complex than I thought.

Amy also dished on her next project, in which she will write about Walleye fish!
