I met Stephanie at a house party she was throwing for previous Hey Brooklyn guest Ken Wheaton, and she gave me a gold star. She does this for a lot of people she meets, people that need to have a gold star because they’ve made an effort, they’ve tried, or they’re trying. It’s a sparkly yellow foam star, just a sticker, but it meant a lot to me, and brightens the days of others who get them, too.
She keeps a blog called Gold Star 4 Trying where she chronicles this effort to make the random strangers she meets every day a little happier, and talking to her was so, so good.
